About Harlow Macfarlane

Harlow MacFarlane is an artist, musician and film composer currently based in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Drawing from a diverse palette of analog synthesizers, found objects and field recordings, he creates aural tapestries that aim to transcend the boundaries of conventional electronic and acoustic music.

Working as a solo artist and a collaborator, he has performed and produced music for over two decades, releasing critically acclaimed albums for North American and European record labels.

Currently, MacFarlane has shifted his focus to the screen. Through the visceral side of sound, he works to create memorable themes for film’s characters and their surroundings. While at times utilizing traditional classical instruments, it is his specialized use of vintage electronics and analog synthesis that sets his music apart from mainstream soundtrack composition.

Recently he composed the score for the award winning Canadian film, The Unseen. The music was released by Dutch label, Wic Recordings and is currently available on vinyl and digital formats.
